TVs, computers and gaming temptations are known to keep children attached to electronic umbilici for up to 40-60 hours a week. This, in turn, robs them of all physical activity. All these distractions, along with challenges posed by classroom bullies and an inability to make friends; add up to create the perfect couch potato – one that often leads to obesity. But fret not! Think beyond Games: Make exercises fun by finding new ways to work out - like dance classes, swimming laps, skating and karate etc. Let them pick the most exciting option to get rid of their sedentary lifestyles. Play Along: Kids watch and learn, so make sure that you stay active at home. Devote your weekends to your children: take them hiking, rock climbing or camping! A family picnic involving entertaining games is also a great way to get your kids out of the house.
Push the Pause Button: Experts recommend that growing kids should spend less than two hours in front of their television sets, computers, or mobile screens. Make sure you turn off the idiot box in time to let them enjoy the outdoors! This also means that you too will have to sacrifice your favorite soap operas. But it will definitely buy you more quality time with your family!
Healthy Snacking: Along with regular exercise, kids need a healthy intake of food to stay energetic throughout the day. There are various foods that help curb lethargy. However, a wholesome meal doesn’t necessarily mean a compromise on taste. Not when you can prepare nutritious snacks such as colorful fruit salads, delicious and energy boosting Top Ramen oat noodles, healthy home-made soups, and a whole lot more! Kids won’t be able to say no to these lip-smacking delights.
